We are really spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting a particular article from Homeopathy in Practice (HiP) to share with visitors to our website, which actually makes the task of choosing which article to present, quite challenging! The most practical suggestion I can make is to recommend that you subscribe to HiP, which only costs £40 for UK residents, and £50 to those living overseas. That way, you will receive each of the three issues published annually, as soon as they are printed, and you can enjoy the full range of articles for yourselves. It’s really easy to subscribe – just click here!

How to keep well – germ versus terrain theory by Chris Hill – page 40
Chris Hill considers that that COVID and the narrative we were exposed to by governments, science and a compliant mainstream media, has created an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear which is counterproductive to our wellbeing. We have to learn to retake responsibility and enjoy life again. A pill for every ill and endless vaccinations won’t do the trick. Iatrogenic disease is on the increase. Despite progress in medicine and surgery, the rate of ill-health has increased. The germ theory is still the prevalent traditional medical theory today. Only holistic healthcare will lead to a complete state of wellbeing. Click here to read the full article.

Integrating coaching skills into homeopathic practice by Jo Permaul – page 40
Jo Permaul supports her clients by integrating coaching skills into her homeopathic practice. If they are ‘coaching-ready’ and open to change and to be challenged on their thinking, coaching enables them to find their own solutions and move out of a place of stagnation. In conjunction with homeopathy they are then able to move forward and reach new levels of wellbeing. Click here to read the full article.

There are two articles in this edition of HiP which I’d like to share with you:
Dreams and the shadow self in homeopathy – part 1 by Carrie Olson – page 08
There are many ways which help us understand and treat our patients. In part one of her article, Carrie Olson illustrates how we can achieve a clearer insight into our patients’ mental/emotional state by using dreams as an analytic tool. Dreams are unfiltered and show the ‘shadow’ or unconscious side of an individual, the side the conscious ego is frightened to identify with. Hahnemann already recognised the importance of dreams, and Carrie helps us to better understand how we can apply the revelations dreams can uncover, in practice. Click here to read the full article.
About a boy… Demystifying the teenage boy – part 1 by J Cori Anderberg – page 36
Many homeopaths dread treating teenage boys as they hold an unconscious bias about them – not so Cori Anderberg. In the past she also made assumptions about this demographic group but now her practice focuses heavily on treatment of teenage boys. In part one of her article she explains why we shouldn’t be wary of treating them as we have the knowledge and are uniquely equipped to treat this group. We should, however, rethink our line of questioning! Click here to read the full article.

The war with self by Gabby Arthur. Gabby served in the army for a number of years, and as a war veteran, she has had first-hand experience of working in war zones. As a PTSD sufferer herself, in this article Gabby brings together her personal and professional experience. In 2021, she ran a small but successful research project entitled, ‘War with the Self’, primarily to bring homeopathy to the veteran community and to support their mental health. Her long-term aim is to make homeopathy available to veterans suffering from mental health conditions regardless of their financial circumstances. Click here to read the full article.

Editor’s choice – HiP – Winter 2021/2022
This edition of HiP features two important articles about different aspects of blood. The study of blood cells has always been invaluable in extending our knowledge and understanding of health and disease at a bio-physical level, and this continues to be the case. For example, a group of top immunologists from Britain and Brazil are studying the blood cells of individuals who seem to have natural immunity to Covid-19, in an attempt to understand what makes them different. The answer to that would help to provide a key to developing a vaccine against Covid-19 which would work for both current variants and future variants of the virus. The two articles focussing on blood in this issue are:
COVID-19 vaccines and thrombosis: a review – In part two of an in-depth article on Covid-19 vaccines and thrombosis, Dr Yubraj Sharma explores how traditional, complementary and integrative medicine, can all play a valuable role in the treatment of Covid-19. Click here to read the full article.
Blood pathology testing in clinical homeopathic practice – In part one of an article featuring the useful role blood pathology testing can play in clinical practice, Thierry Clerk provides a practical overview of the basics of haematology, including haemoglobin, immunity cells and the major bio-chemistry biomarkers. Whole Health Agriculture: Oxford Real Farming Conference 2021 by Karen Seyersted
The Oxford Real Farming Conference (ORFC), organised by Whole Health Agriculture, went online in 2021, which meant it could reach out to a global audience. Karen Seyersted fills us in on the topics discussed and the exciting studies being conducted both here in the UK, and in other parts of the world. The conference provided a showcase for the potential of homeopathy and other CAMs in the treatment of livestock, and provided the opportunity to share knowledge and expertise, internationally. Whole Health Agriculture and homeopathy in livestock farming by Karen Seyersted & Jackie Pearce-Dickens
WHAg conducted an Alternative Livestock Health Survey amongst farmers, which showed that when properly applied, animals benefit greatly from CAM.  Karen Seyersted, with input from Jackie Pearce-Dickens, reports that the results show clearly that the use of CAM, and homeopathy in particular, has reduced the use and cost of antibiotics and other antimicrobials, as well as improving the overall health and wellbeing of farmers’ livestock. CAM also provides an invaluable tool to farmers, for the prevention of disease in livestock. To read the full article, click here.

COVID-19: Staying healthy under lockdown by Karin Mont
Karin Mont puts COVID-19 into context with other lower respiratory tract infections which are the third largest killer globally while, obviously, not advising complacency, as the infection rate of this new strain of coronavirus is particularly virulent and needs to be limited. This is where homeopathy has an important role to play; it has an excellent, documented, track record in the treatment of epidemics – even during the 1918 flu pandemic.
Limited social interaction, self-isolation and social distancing will undoubtedly also have an impact on our mental and emotional well-being, probably well beyond the imposed restrictions, but homeopathy has answers here too. To read the full article, click here.

The elephant in the COVID-infected room by Rob Verkerk
In this article, Rob Verkerk suggests that the reaction to Covid-19 has been completely over the top; viruses play a crucial role in the evolution of all life forms and fulfil beneficial functions, such as maintaining stability of the gut microbiome. The biomedical model, on which modern health care systems are based, has become the biggest stumbling block to human adaptation to the new virus. We’d do better to boost our immune system naturally rather than accept vaccination as the answer. To read the full article, click here.

HRI Conference, London 2019  by Lionel Milgrom
Homeopathic research is more alive than ever as Lionel Milgrom, who attended HRI’s biennial international event, documents. There is a collection of high-quality studies which have delivered empirical evidence that ultrahigh dilution drugs work and that studies can be repeated. Such research is not only carried out in the Western world either. To read the full article, click here.

Beauty and the beast by Krista Masonis
This is a very interesting article: Krista Masonis, a homeopath and expert on the topic, gives us useful information on the character traits of narcissists that we should look for, and guidance how to treat them and those affected by their destructive nature. As in all cases, a close look at the personal history is paramount. Long-term homeopathic treatment, together with other forms of support, can play an essential role in an emotional shift.

Sue Smith recaps traditional thinking on miasmatic theory, i.e. inherited and acquired health susceptibilities, but she also looks at other ways in which miasms can be conceived and the role of epigenetics.
